Ascutney First XC - June 7, 2014

The day began with a tour of the LZs for Max
The hike in is long and difficult
Tom on Launch

A quick launch with a good climb

Almost immediately I found a thermal to the West of launch.
Tom, Stacy and someone else came over to join as we climbed out to 4k.

I knew it wasn't enough but I had the XC bug and was going no matter what.
Looked over and saw Tom heading out too, and Stacy a bit below (not in frame).

Tom found a great climb when we were at 1,900' and I scooted over under him.
Stacy was too low and had to land but picked a great field. She's on final in the field under my elbow.

We took that one up to 5,700' and Morningside was an easy goal after that.

Tom took off to the West to find more but I was pretty happy, and after searching for a bit, headed back to MFP to arrive at 4k.

Hello Morningside!

A busy runway
Good friends meet me when I return.
Dave and Pixie give first congrats and help with the glider.
Track or it didn't happen ; )

An incredible experience for sure!

Thanks to everyone for all the teachings, advice and demonstrations over the years.
Looking forward to the next time!
